We will continue to chip and dispose of branches for residents up to end of day Sunday, Sept 11. Smaller branches (up to 1 1/2″ in diameter) can be dropped off at the designated area by the summer village maintenance shop, please do not bring larger branches as they cannot be chipped.
After Sept 11, branches can be disposed of at the Regional Landfill Site located 5 km west of Gunn on Hwy 43.
Mark MillerKeymasterThis is a reminder that if you would like to have the Yellow Tansy treated on your property, you must get the money to Bill Burrell, Mark Miller, or the summer village office (located at Onoway Town Office) by Sept 9.
Here are details from the original message that was posted:
The summer village has contracted a company to spray Yellow Tansy (a noxious weed) on summer village property. We have already had one treatment done earlier this summer and have another treatment scheduled for mid-September. If you are interested in having tansy on your property sprayed we have extended our agreement with the contractor to also spray resident property, at a cost to the landowner. The cost for doing this one time application is $25/property up to 1/2 acre, $50/property over 1/2 acre (total cost, no additional taxes). If you would like to have this done, you must provide your name, municipal address, phone number, and a cheque payable to “Summer Village of Nakamun Park” for the total amount. Cheques and address information can be dropped off with Bill Burrell at 5039 – 6 Street, Mark Miller at 4003 Hillcrest Drive, or mail it to the summer village office (address here) by Sept 9. Please note – cheque only, no cash, and payment must be received by Sept 9 if you would like to have your property treated this fall. I expect that this will be repeated again next year, and I will send out more information as it is available.
As a guideline, if you have a normal sized lot it is under 1/2 acre, if you have either a double lot that was merged or an over-sized lot it will be over 1/2 acre. Your land title has the exact lot size for reference.
Mark MillerKeymasterQuick update on the Masse RV Park development application. In the August Lac Ste Anne county planning meeting the decision to approve/reject the development application was deferred as the country requested additional information from Masse, the application review was tentatively scheduled for the Sept 7 county planning meeting. We just found out from the county that the Masse application review is not on the agenda for the Sept 7 meeting as he is still collecting information requested by the county.
Mark MillerKeymasterWe have a small yellow kayak that was found at Ted Macdonald park, if it is yours please contact me at mark.miller@svnakamun.com or 780-665-3755 with details on the kayak to reclaim it.

Mark MillerKeymasterGlimmer of hope?
We just got back from the LSA County Municipal Planning Commission meeting, and LSAC council has decided to defer the decision on the Masse development application until the September MPC meeting. That is the good news. The better news is that there was quite a bit of discussion among the councilors about rejecting the development application based on:
– the RV park may not be a recommended use under the county Land Use Bylaws (they need to review and clarify this point)
– concerns with the distance between the property location and the closest paved road, there is a lot of gravel for the county to maintain for this traffic.
– recognizing the amount of dissent from the summer village and surrounding residents to this developmentThis is much better news than I had expected, and gives us some hope that the county council is seriously considering rejecting the application.
Mark MillerKeymasterFollow-up to the Masse RV park development, we found out at the end of day Friday that the Masse development application has been included on the Lac Ste Anne County Municipal Planning Committee (MPC) agenda for the Aug 3 meeting, 9:30am at the county administration building in Sangudo.
The meeting agenda has not been posted on the LSAC web site yet, but for reference here is the agenda from the July MPC meeting:
July 6 MPC MeetingAll of SV Nakamun council will be attending the MPC meeting and any members of the community that are interested in attending are welcome. We have very little additional information, anything that we receive before the meeting I will post on SV web site.
Mark MillerKeymasterReminder – boat launch is closed tomorrow (Friday) at 5pm until Sunday at noon.
