Re:    Complete Fire Ban Now in Effect – Summer Village of Nakamun Park

 

At 11:00am on April 11th, 2024, our nearest municipal partner – Lac Ste. Anne County – declared a full fire ban due to their assessment of an extreme fire hazard in the region.

In keeping with municipal policy and the provisions of the new Fire Services Bylaw, the Summer Village of Nakamun Park has now also declared a complete fire ban. This fire ban will come into effect on April 11th, 2024 at 12:00noon, and remain in place until further notice.

During a Fire Ban, no new Fire Permits will be issued, and all existing Fire Permits are hereby cancelled. No Person shall light, cause to be lit, or permit to be lit, a Fire on Property that they are the Owner or occupier of, regardless of whether the Person is the holder of a Fire Permit, and any such Person shall immediately extinguish any Fire that has been lit once the Person knows, or ought reasonable to have known, of the Fire Ban.

This Fire Ban prohibits all burning, including cooking/warming fires (backyard fire pits and campground fire pits, except those fueled by propane/natural gas). This Fire Ban also includes charcoal briquettes, fireworks, deep friers (e.g. turkey fryers), tiki torches, and wood fires in outdoor recreation facilities such as group campsites, gazebos, tee pees, and wood burning stoves inside tent-like structures.

Please contact 911 to report any emergency situations. Contact the Administration Office at 780-967-0271 to report any breach of the fire ban restrictions.
