As many residents are aware from the mailed out notices and ads in the Lac Ste Anne Bulletin, a number of municipalities in Lac Ste Anne County have decided to switch their fire protection services provider from LSA county to North West Fire and Rescue, based out of Onoway. The communities that have changed to this new provider include Onoway, Alberta Beach, and 3 summer villages, and this decision is due to changes in county strategy regarding where they will be providing fire protection services from (firehalls are being moved in the county).
The Summer Village of Nakamun Park has also made the decision to switch fire protection services to this new provider effective Jan 1, 2016. As part of the service that this new provider brings, they will come out and meet with residents to introduce themselves and provide literature on fire prevention and home safety. They will start their campaign next week, so you can look forward to meeting them through the week.
North West Fire and Rescue is very well equipped, has full time firefighters, and is very active volunteering in the communities that they service. They also have reciprocal partner agreements with other nearby fire departments in the event that they need backup if they are tied up on other calls.
January 3, 2016 at 8:55 pm #911Mark MillerKeymasterThis is a reminder that we now have a new fire services provider; North West Fire and Rescue based out of Onoway is our new provider as of Jan 1, 2016. They will come out to meet the residents of our summer village and provide advice on fire safety early this coming summer.

If you have other (non-emergency) questions the phone number for North West Fire and Rescue is 780-777-4688.
February 3, 2016 at 2:37 pm #922Mark MillerKeymasterWe have had a few questions from residents regarding the change to fire service providers and potential impact on home insurance. Here is more information on the change in fire services providers.
The Summer Village of Nakamun Park has changed fire protection service providers from Lac Ste Anne County to Onoway Regional Fire Services, with this change our primary fire hall will now be located in Onoway as opposed to Rich Valley which may have implications on the distance used by your insurance company to calculate your personal insurance fee. We encourage residents to do their due diligence and inform your insurance provider of this change; it might also be a good idea to do some “insurance shopping” and compare prices as the distance/range limits used by the various providers may also be different and this can affect how much you are paying for fire insurance.
We have made this change for the following reasons:
• LSA County is reviewing where they will have fire halls located in the county, when we spoke to the county about whether they would keep the Rich Valley firehall open they could not commit to it; and
• Onoway Regional Fire Services are provided by Northwest Fire and Rescue which has access to a broader range of equipment and more readily available staff and volunteers which we believe will help lower response times and increase service reliability. -
