Re: Fire Advisory Now in Effect
As a result of the sustained dry conditions, lack of snow cover in the area, and generally high grassy and organic fuel load in the community, the Summer Village of Nakamun Park is updating the municipality’s fire ban status to a Fire Advisory. This Fire Advisory is declared as of 12:00noon on January 2nd, 2024 and will remain in effect until further notice.
During the Fire Advisory:
- Existing Burn permits remain active, but no new permits applications will be reviewed
- Recreational cooking, warming, and campfires in acceptable fire pits are allowed, along with other wood-fired outdoor warming devices, BBQs, and propane fired appliances. There will be zero-tolerance for any use of unapproved fire pits or cooking units, or other unsafe fire related activities.
This Fire Advisory is consistent with that adopted in Lac Ste. Anne County, our most immediate municipal stakeholder, the advice of our local fire services provider, and also recommended by our regional emergency management services partnership. We collectively remind all property owners and guests to be vigilant when enjoying a fire in the community during this period of heightened risk.
