Residents and guests,
Re: COVID-19 and Temporary Administration Office Closure
On March 17th, 2020 the Town of Onoway issued a public statement which, in part, declared a period of restricted public access to their administration building in response to recent developments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. As the Summer Village of Nakamun Park shares this facility for our own administration office, we are subject to this restriction as well.
Until further notice, the Summer Village of Nakamun Park Administration Office (4808-51st in Onoway, AB) will be closed to the general public. Staff will be working during this period, and phone, mail and email communications will continue as usual. The regular business of the municipality is scheduled to continue and at this point no interruption to internal operations is expected.
At this point, council meetings will continue as scheduled, including the March 18th, 2020 meeting. The Town of Onoway has confirmed that Onoway Council Chambers, the regular meeting place for our Nakamun Park council meetings, will remain available. However, they have suggested, and we are asking, that residents observe the following considerations:
While the normal rules still apply for addressing Council (by appointment only), we ask that you only book an appointment for urgent and time-sensitive matters. You should contact the office in advance of requesting an appointment to discuss alternative dates or other ways to address your business.
If you wish to attend a council meeting as an observer, we ask that you do not do so if you are ill – and specifically if you have flu-like symptoms or a fever, or if you, or someone you are in contact with, have recently returned from travelling outside of Canada.
We are working with our municipal partners to establish a feasible remote public participation mechanism for meetings and will advise of same if/when available.
On behalf of our administration team, I want to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation as we work with our various stakeholders to mitigate the impact of the current situation. If you have any questions regarding this statement please feel free to contact the office to discuss.
Regards,
Dwight Darren Moskalyk
