Assessment and Assessment Appeals
Current Year Assessment Roll:
Click the link below to see the redacted current year assessment roll for the municipality. Assessment for prior years can be obtained through the Administration Office on request.
Assessment Services:
The Summer Village contracts assessment services through Municipal Assessment Services Group. General enquiries regarding your property assessment or the assessment process can be sent to the Assessment by contacting:
Justin Goudreau, Assessor
780-939-3310
Justin.Goudreau@MASG.ca
Assessment Complaints:
Where a property owner finds their assessment to be unfair, the Municipal Government Act provides an opportunity to appeal the assessed value (not the tax amount) to the Assessment Review Board. Property owners have 60 days from the date of the notice (plus 7 days mailing time) to submit a formal complaint. Prior to making a formal complaint to appeal their assessed value, a property owner is encouraged to contact the Assessor to discuss – and usually resolve – the concern.
If a property owner does wish to proceed with filing a formal complaint to the Assessment Appeal Board, they must use the prescribed Complaint Form. The Complaint Form can be obtained from the Administration Office, or can be found in the following link:

Additional information on the assessment and assessment complaint process can also be found on the back of the annual tax and assessment notice, or on the provincial website at:

Assessment Complaints must be made on, or before, the final date of complaint. This date is found on the back of your current year tax and assessment notice; in 2024 the Assessment Appeal Deadline is July 24th, 2024. Complaints – including the completed Form and a $50.00 filing fee – must be returned to the Administration Office:
Summer Village of Nakamun Park
Designated Officer, Dwight Moskalyk
Box 1250 Onoway Alberta T0E 1V0
(or to the office at 2317 Twd Rd. 545 in Lac Ste. Anne County)
Taxes and Taxation
Taxes are based on the annual budget passed by Council. The total levy applied to a property is based on the assessment value of the property and special levies for certain services (Fire Protection), and is a result of mill rates applied to the assessment value.
There are mill rates for municipal taxation (in various property classes), school requisitions, seniors foundation requisitions, and designated linear property requisitions – some of which the municipality can control, and some which we cannot.
The Summer Village of Nakamun Park also uses a Minimum Amount Payable (MAP) – or minimum tax – to spread the core municipal costs more fairly across all property types; in 2024 the MAP is set at $885 per lot.
Tax Payment Plan:
A reminder that the Summer Village offers a monthly direct debit tax payment program. To learn more about this option, or to sign up for month tax payments under the Tax Payment Plan, please contact the office to discuss.
Tax Payment Due Date:
Taxes at due on or before June 30th of the current year. Outstanding current year balances will be assessed an 18% penalty on July 1st, and the total outstanding balance at year end will be assessed a further 18% penalty on January 1st of the new year.
