Re:    Important Community Reminders – July 19, 2024

Just a reminder to property owners, residents and guests of the Summer Village of Nakamun Park regarding a few upcoming events and some important community information:
July 20, 2024 Events and Community Activities
    • July 20, 10:00am – Join Council at Ted MacDonald Park for the Annual Information Meeting. In addition to regular updates from Council, we will be having a presentation on the Summer Village Regional Emergency Management Partnership and emergency preparedness. Please remember to bring your own chair.
    • July 20, 11:15am – Community Baseball at Ted MacDonald Park, following the AIM.
    • July 20, 12:00noon – Hot Dog Lunch BBQ in the Park
    • July 20, 6:00pm to 9:00pm – Trick or Treat in the Heat!

    Important Reminders and Notices:

    • A Complete Fire Ban Remains In Effect – No wood burning outdoor fires (heating, cooking or recreational) are permitted. Also, a reminder that fire works are strictly prohibited .
    • Vehicle Parking – A reminder that residents and guests park must park on their property, not the municipal roadway or in the municipal ditches. Please keep our roadways safe and accessible to emergency services.
    • Bylaw Enforcement Officer – CPO Kasamba can be reached at the complaint Line – 1-780-786-2416 ext: 232 or email – cpokasamba@mayerthorpe.ca, or by using the online complaint form. The CPO acts as bylaw enforcement for a variety of matters – traffic, noise, parking, fire and fireworks violations – so please reach out to him to report any concerns.
    • Development Services – The first round of enforcements for the summer have been issued. A reminder to all residents to keep your grass cut and address any overgrown vegetation and noxious weeds on private property. Please ensure you consult with Development Services before initiating any construction on your property to ensure compliance with the bylaws and obtain a permit where required.
    • Share the Lake – Be mindful of other lake users, including all forms of watercraft, swimmers, shoreline property owners and wildlife. Avoid making wakes or excessive noise close to shore, and observe the posted guidelines and regulations for responsible lake use. Also, if using the municipal boat launch, please do so responsibly and do not move/remove any of the riprap (large rocks) on the shore line.
    • Weed Harvesting has Started – Please keep your distance from crews in the water and on shore as they complete the annual lake weed cutting. We have the old machine in action this week to get a head start, and the new machine will be arriving shortly to take over. Crews are working hard to keep on schedule.
    • Municipal Reserve Work – Also be mindful of crews working on the Municipal Reserves. Crews will be out in the coming days to complete the next stage of the rehabilitation (removing the debris piles and starting the regrading).  A reminder that an overview of the project scope and objectives can be found on the website, including the May 18, 2024 presentation from the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, for more information.
    • Call-for-Volunteers – As requested during the May 18, 2024 ceremony, the municipality has now authorized the formation of a volunteer community crew to assist with tree removal and general maintenance of certain municipal lands. We will reach out with more information on what this entails and a Call-for-Volunteers in a few weeks for anyone interested in knowing more or joining the team.
For additional information please contact the municipal office.
