The recent increase in property crime occurrences reported in the rural Lac Ste. Anne (and specifically the Nakamun Lake) area, is a reminder that in remote communities it is often the community members that are the first to observe and report suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods. Rural Crime Watch is a community organization that supports individuals and communities in crime detection, prevention and education.
Nakamun Lake is within the Lac Ste. Anne North East Chapter of Rural Crime Watch district, and this organization is holding their Annual Meeting on Feb. 15th, 2023 7:30pm at the Onoway Heritage Centre. A lifetime membership in the organization is $25.00 and gives the member access to additional resources, education, and tools to help prevent criminal activity at the local level and report criminal occurrences effectively within their communities and to law enforcement.
Council for the Summer Village of Nakamun Park will be sending representation to this meeting. We encourage anyone else in the community who may be interested in supporting the local crime watch efforts and helping protect their neighbourhood to attend as well.
